FTH MOO WEST Pedigree and AHCA Registration Information

FTH Moo West — affectionately known as “Moo” — is one of the original three “red heads” that started our Highland journey here at JCA Highlands. Her name is a playful nod to Mae West, and her sweet, charming personality has made her a farm favorite ever since.

Moo is exceptionally gentle and loves attention — she will happily take cubes from anyone, stands to be brushed, and even enjoys hugs. Her calm, friendly disposition makes her a joy to handle and be around.

In addition to her winning personality, Moo displays outstanding conformation, structural soundness, excellent feet, and a beautifully balanced, productive udder — all hallmarks of a top-quality Highland cow. She also exhibits Bus Dubh, the distinctive black shading around the nose, a trait she inherited from her sire and passes on to some of her calves.

Moo has been a dependable producer, giving us six calves sired by H-L Duke:

  • 2 Bulls: One black, one red

  • 4 Heifers: Three duns, one red

One of Moo’s daughters, Pepper, is well-known through 100 Acre Woods Highlands on YouTube, continuing Moo’s influence in the Highland community.

A fun and special fact — Moo was born on the exact same day Jacob and Christi were married, making her a truly meaningful part of our farm’s history.

Genetic testing confirms that Moo is NEGATIVE for the Myostatin NT-821 Deletion gene.

Her sire is LEA Broderick, a recognized Impact Sire — an elite designation given to bulls that have sired four or more Impact Dams within the breed. This exceptional pedigree is clearly reflected in Moo’s quality and production.

Moo remains an irreplaceable part of our foundation herd, embodying the temperament, structure, and maternal excellence we strive to produce.
